Research and development

Machine vision applications in agriculture.

Statistical time study for facilities to point out where automation is feasible.

Research and development toward cargo encapsulation and delivery for drugs and tissue engineering, material platforms for light matter interactions, and sensing.

Performed spectral data acquisition and analysis on photoluminescent and magnetic materials. Observed surface morphology of self-organized nanoparticles in liquid crystal under optical and electron microscopy.

Completion of projects resulted in two publications in Nature Scientific Reports and Journal of Physical Chemistry C.

Inorganic & organic chemical synthesis with explorations in computer science, embedded systems programming, and mathematics.

An effective communicator: assisted students in physics, chemistry, computer science, working in cross-functional collaborative environments, and have given talks in conferences.

A materials science engineer with interest in data analytics. I’ve delved in materials science, computer science (software development and analytics), chemistry and physics (electronics) and the nano world. This brought me Merced where I joined the materials and biomaterials science and engineering graduate program school at UC Merced.

In Merced, I focused on self assembly methods utilizing liquid crystals to assemble nanoparticles into micro-sized clusters and shell-like structures. My research career has involved working in 4 major projects related to materials:

  • self-assembly
  • photovoltaics (computational)
    • Performed computational modeling during a summer at Washington State University. Co-authored two publications in Journal of Chemical Crystallography.
  • organic crystals (synthesis and characterization) and
  • robotics
    • Programmed an object avoiding robot and a physical calculator for course projects.

Tools and methods

I've utilized computational modeling, automated data acquisition, programming, and developing & implementing experimental protocols. I have strong quantitative and data analytical skills, demonstrated by the creation of scripts in Python, C++, and MATLAB to analyze and visualize spectral and image data in peer-reviewed publications.

Mentorship & Volunteer

I was a mentor to summer research scholars associated to the Office for training, Research and Education in the Sciences (OTRES).

Volunteered in Yosemite National Park’s and Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Park Facelift events.
